Use Case Zone

Welcome to the Use Case Zone - a site dedicated to providing links and information on use cases. Ivar Jacobson introduced use cases to the world in his famous book “Object-Oriented Software Engineering” (OOSE). It soon became obvious that this simple idea was an important technique for writing software requirements. Use cases are now an important feature of the Unified Modeling Language (UML).

The material contained here represents a diverse collection of viewpoints on how one should go about writing use cases. This does not necessarily represent the views of anyone at Pols Consulting; in fact many of the authors contradict each other! We assume visitors to this site can read this material with an open mind and come to their own conclusions. Happy surfing!

If you would like to add material, recommend some links, or have any questions, please contact: Andy Pols (andy@pols.co.uk).

We also run use case training courses based on the ideas of Alistair Cockburn (because our experience has shown that his ideas work the best in real life).
